Napkin Holder 3D Printing Hybrid Project

Image
For this assignment, we have used Rhino7 to mix and combine objects to create a hybrid. Only twist is that the objects you make are to be combined with someone else's object. By creating 12 objects (6 for each person) myself and my partner Cait were able to brainstorm and come up with some ideas to create a functional design: A Napkin Holder. When printing this object, we wanted to print it into parts and then put them together. So the large tubes as well as the base would be printed separately and on their sides to avoid using supports. We are a bit worried that the tubes might not work completely, but we will give it a few test runs.  Caits Objects: My Objects:     We decided to take Cait's tube design and combine it with the contrasted rectangular elements in my                                     design. It also includes the levitated form from my design (Napkin is off the ground) and the circular bottom (which is now closed). Two Combined Objects: Sketches Of Brainstormin

Final Lightsaber Papercraft

This is the final revision of the paper craft project, which- if you read my last blog post took awhile to assemble together due to a lot of trial and error. I ended up taking out a lot of details in the final revision, but I do believe one can tell that it is a lightsaber when they see it. So I'll take that as a win. All of my progress and though process can be shown in this one image of "what the hell is going on" Rhino print template: It's a little blurry, but you get the idea. The images below show the final print templates that were laser cut and then folded into the final piece.  Rendered Versions of Lightsaber Model:            One of the biggest flaw in my prototype design which was pointed out during the progress critique was the wobbliness on the top portion of the lightsaber. Although it still wobbles a bit, it is a lot sturdier than before.     One thing I regret about this  top section is how uneven and messy the gluing was. There was a lot of
